Using the Teams Mobile App

Please make sure you have downloaded and set up the Teams mobile app on your phone before this post.

When using the Teams mobile app, there are few features that you will need. Let's go through them!


Notifications:

Before we start, please make sure you turn on your notifications for Teams, this is so you get alerts when there is new activity (messages, calls etc)

To do this, go to your settings. and select 'Notifications'. Scroll down your apps and select Teams. Make sure your notifications are turned on.


Activity:

Activity is your notification panel in Teams. This is where you can see if someone has interacted with you (messaged you, replied to you or tagged you)


Chat:

The chat feature is where you can send private messages to your teachers and peers. To send a private message, click on 'Chat'


In chat, select the blue icon at the bottom of your screen (see image below)


Click on this icon here to start a new chat.






In the 'to' box enter the name, ID number or email of the person that you would like to message.


Type in your message to them and press send.

Teams:

This is where you can find the class that you have been added to.

Not seeing the correct class? If you are not seeing your class under Teams, please speak to your tutor and ask them to add you in.


To find class materials, assignments and messages in your class please click on your teams to expand the channels.




In general, this is where you will find messages and your class materials from the class.


In posts, you will find messages and discussions from your class. Press reply, to respond to a message. Press 'New post' if you would like to start a new conversation - please be aware the messages in the channel are public, this means everyone in the class can see the messages you send in here. To message someone privately you will need to click on chat.

Files:

This is where you will find your class materials, this may be worksheets, presentations or your homework briefs.


Assignments:

In this tab, this is where you can find homework that your tutor has set. This will mostly be for ESOL students, so please check with your tutor before using this feature.


Calendar:

You can find your college timetable in here. This has all the days, times and locations for your lessons. You can also find your timetable in Outlook (college email).
