Updated: Dec 7, 2022

Watch the video below or follow the written instructions to find out how to submit an assignment in Turnitin.

Written Guide:

When submitting an assignment on Turnitin there are some guidelines you must follow.

Your file must:

  • Be in a Word, PowerPoint or PDF Format

  • Must have a minimum of 20 words

  • Be smaller than 100mb*

Mac Users must convert their files to a PDF or a format compatible with Microsoft Office

*If you are working in a PowerPoint with images you may need to compress your images to make sure the file size is not over 100mb. Find out how to compress your images here.

Submitting your Assignment:

Follow these 5 steps to submit your assignment on Turnitin.

Step 1) Find your Assignment in your my courses page.

If you are struggling to find your assignment, check your 'My Courses' dashboard under 'Deadlines' to see all upcoming deadlines.

Once you have found your assignment, click on the assignment title.

Step 2) When you open the assignment you will see the following:

  • Assignment Deadline

  • Summary of the Assignment Task

There is also a parts tab, this is if you are submitting more than one file.

Step 3) Select 'Submit Paper' which you will find near the bottom of the page.

Step 4) Choose your file

In the first box, type in the title of your file.

Then select the file icon below with a green plus sign to locate and choose your file to submit.

Afterwards tick the box at the bottom to confirm the work you are submitting is your own.

Step 5) Submit your Assignment

Under 'Attachment' locate where you have saved your file and attach the file you'd like to submit.

Once you have chosen your file select 'upload this file.'

What Happens Next?

Once you have submitted the assignment you will receive a digital receipt which will go to your college email. Do not close the page until you have received this email.

You will also get a copy of the plagiarism report. The first time this is almost straight-away - subsequent submissions up until the assignment deadline take 24 hours.
